Rudolf Stingel The Whitney

Rudolf Stingel’s show at the Whitney overshadows ‘The Summer of Love’ and should be seen. Stingel, who was included in the 2006 Biennial, challenges painting by using a variety of material, including styrofoam, carpet, and aluminum. Not only can one see the exhibit, but viewer participation is encouraged with the tinfoil installation.

de Kooning

I just finished reading the very well written and interesting biography on Willem de Kooning, “An American Master”, by Mark Stevens and Annalyn Swan, so everything I’ve been looking at lately is coming up de Kooning. None the least of which was his 1950 masterpiece ‘Excavation’ at The Art Institute of Chicago. I went, I saw, I lingered.
