The first major US retrospective of J. M. W. Turner in over forty years will open today at The Met. Featuring nearly 140 paintings and watercolors, the “artist’s extensive iconographic range is represented, from seascapes and topographical views to historical subjects and scenes from his imagination”. It shall prove to be a summer blockbuster.
